The past week my daughter was using the computer and said an error popped up and disappeared but I could not get the error message again. Now almost everytime I boot the machine the desktop icons disappear and then reappear every 30 seconds or so. Only part of my start menu shows when I hit the windows key and I cant get my firefox 3 to start up. It usually freezes after a while as well.
I am actually typing this from the computer in safe mode which seems to work. I did install nero 8 from the internet but do not think that would be the problem. Any ideas on where to start. Like I said the safe mode works and I did try sytem restore but it could never restore it.
No matter how far back I went. Have a lot of programs on here and would hate to have to do a reinstall or get a new computer at this time since Win XP to me is better than Vista.
