When I connect from a Windows 7 pro 32 bit or "attempt to connect" to the shared fax of my server i get "Windows cannot connect to the printer operation failed with error 0xa" I don't even get an opportunity to look for new drivers.
Answer or solution may depend upon what fax modem you are using. Many fax applications are compatible and install seemlessly without extra software. You may want to upgrade to a newer version Internet Fax application. I'm using a us robotics modem. The new model USR They are pretty good and i have been using them for years in different installations without issue.
I may be wrong but I'm under the impression it doesn't have anything to do with the actual modem but the drivers that are transferred from the windows server 64bit to the windows 7 32 bit client for the fax send wizard.
My client that I'm setting this up for is currently using an Electronic Medical Records software that needs to detect a fax locally setup for it to work. They are faxing things out of the doctors office all day and don't think they would be interested in a fee per page type of setup.
Do you have any other advice for this issue that isn't a work around? Has anyone been able to successfully get the correct drivers for it to work? Just setup hylafax as either a email-to-fax or samba share-to-fax. A quick google search will kickup a solution for you. Not an IT pro? Windows Server TechCenter. Sign in. United States English. I have not quite resolved this. I did order the USR serial modem and just received it Friday. I plan on setting this up on Monday at some point so I will reply back with the results. I ended up getting the USR E external serial modem and it works beautifully and installing it was extremely simple!
The only complaint that I had was that I had to reboot, but it was our secondary server so it was no big deal.
The standard Windows drivers work perfectly and installed in literally 20 seconds. I had a Zoom serial modem and the windows drivers did not work with it and the vendor supplied drivers caused a memory leak that restarted the server many times. MvT is an IT service provider.
