The longstanding history of San Antonio College and the Nursing Program is evidence of the potential the college has and the importance of the expansion of services offered. These graduates can then achieve their Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN to address the growing, complex needs of the community and healthcare system.

Therefore, the San Antonio College Nursing Department's expansion of services offers an opportunity to increase the number of baccalaureate-prepared nurses in healthcare and promote lifelong learning.

Institute of Medicine. The Future of Nursing. The program is designed to be lockstep, meaning there are specific courses based on the prerequisites required completion prior to advancing to the next semester. The intent of the program is to allow graduates from the San Antonio College Associate Degree in Nursing to obtain licensure, begin working, and then continue furthering education while working in the community.

Students enrolled in the program will learn essential tools to be a nurse leader and transition into the new role designated for a Baccalaureate prepared nurse. If you plan to eventually obtain a DNP, why not get it out of the way sooner? Depending on your credentials, experience, and on other factors, you may be able to complete a BSN-to-DNP bridge program to achieve this terminal degree within a shorter period of time.
